How to Live the Life of Your Dreams

How to Live the Life of Your Dreams

Are you living the life of your dreams?
….or have your dreams faded beyond recognition?

According to Napoleon Hill you don’t have to be a fortune-teller to be able to predict someone’s future.

You can do so by asking them one simple question:

“What is your one definite purpose in life – and what plans have you made to attain it?”

If you were to ask 100 people that question, perhaps 98 of them would give you some vague answer about making a good living and becoming as successful as possible. On the surface this doesn’t sound so bad and it’s better than not having a clue but it’s really the answer given by someone who’s drifting through life.

Know Your Goal

To be successful you need to know exactly what your goal is  and map out your plans to reach that goal.  You must have a definite intention for your life. The truth is a person who acts with both purpose and a plan attracts opportunities into their life. After all, how can life give you anything, if you don’t even know what it is that you want?

Do you have a desire for happiness, health and wealth? If so you need to take the time to sit and write out a list of the things, large and small, that you’d like to have in your life.  Without a list you’re like an archer without a target – you’ll simply be shooting aimlessly into the wilderness. And then you’ll wonder why your life is humdrum, boring and going nowhere fast.

Create Your Plan and Take Action

Once you’ve set your sights on your target (your written list of goals) it’s time to fill your quiver with arrows (plans) and then take action – shoot!

And don’t worry about how many misses you have – if one plan isn’t successful devise another and then another and another, until you hit that target!  Make a total commitment to achieve your success no matter which obstacles cross your path and no matter how long it takes.  The greatest reward success brings is self-satisfaction.

When the ties that bind a human mind are broken and a man is introduced to himself – the real self, that has no limitations – I fancy that the gates of hell shake with fear and the bells of heaven ring with joy!

  ~Napoleon Hill

I could continue for pages convincing you to take the plunge and begin your journey to success but instead I’d like to share a special poem with you for your consideration.

The Face in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what THAT face has to say.
For it isn’t your father or mother or spouse
Whose judgment upon you must pass;
The person whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people might think you’re a straight-shootin’ chum
And call you a great gal or guy,
But the face in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look it straight in the eye.
That’s the one you must please, never mind all the rest,
That’s the one with you clear to the end.
And you know you have passed your most dangerous test
If the face in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on your back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartache and tears

If you’ve cheated the face in the glass.
